(Why this book and albums were written)
It started with a gift, a blessing in my hand
I held the money tightly, trying to understand
I looked at the cathedrals and the towers on the hill
Wondering where a tenth of this could best fulfill His will
Maybe a radio tower, sending signals through the air
To find a lonely heart and meet them in their prayer
I was looking for a vessel, a place to leave the spark
Then thought maybe I could carry the light out of the dark.
As the pages started turning in the volume of my years
I saw the messy chapters, the triumphs and the tears
I realized the treasure wasn’t paper or the gold
It was every single story that my life had ever told
So, I put it in a letter, I wrote it in a book
For the skeptic and the seeker to take a second look
It’s a little controversial, it’s raw and it is true
But it isn’t about me—it’s about what He can do.
It’s every minute, every hour, every day
He never left my side even when I went astray
Now I’ve self-published the mercy that I found
Turning every silent memory into a holy sound.
This is my ten percent, my service and my song
To tell you about a Father who’s been waiting all along
He’s kind and He is awesome, compassionate and true
If He never gave up on me, He’ll never give up on you
Whether it’s ten souls or a thousand in the light
I’m just passing back the candle that He gave me in the night.
I know that words can fade like the ink upon the leaf
But a melody can linger and bring a heart relief
I can still hear the choruses from twenty years ago
Stuck inside my spirit everywhere I go
So, I have built Him an album, a companion to the page
To carry these true stories to a different kind of stage
The cost is just a shadow, a price I’m glad to pay
To get the message out before the ending of the day.
For the one who doesn’t know Him, let me introduce a Friend
For the one who’s walked beside Him, may you draw closer in the end
It’s a gift that found its purpose, a circle now complete
I’m laying every chapter at the Master’s feet
I don’t need the recognition or the credit for the art
I just want to be the bridge that connects Him to your heart.
